It is getting much tougher to compete in the global marketplace that we all exist in. Whether you are building motorcycles or widgets, there is someone out there trying to make them less expensively and faster than you. But the question is if they are building a better part? For some consumers, it doesn’t matter, cheaper is good enough even if the item doesn’t last as long. It is weird and unfortunate, but cheaper has become the motto and the word of choice for many consumers and businesses. Yes, cheaper is better, but less expensive doesn’t necessarily work out for the best. So the goal is to make a first-rate, high value part and to make it of high value to your potential customers. The builders of the parts do not establish what they makes’ worth; the buyer does. What is the consumer ready to pay for your item and how big of a demand for your product is there? There are different ways to raise your earnings for your goods.

You can always elevate the price and pass it off to the buyer. But there is a better way, a more long term way that can increase earnings and keep your business running lean and efficient. It all begins with removing unnecessary waste in all areas of your organization. Waste comes inlots of forms and it costs every company more cash than they would care to confess. Waste is when workers are just hanging around, but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t orders to be built. It mightmerely mean that they are waiting for parts to be finished in the assembly department or it could mean that they are waiting for parts from a supplier. These are method issues that can directly influence the end product and how many you can make. When workers are loafing around, inactive and waiting for the job to come to their station, they are not productive. They are idle and are in effect simply wasting money and time. It is the same when you have machines sitting unused. What is the point of having a expensive mechanized machine if it is not being run for hours a day? Would it be more cost effective to do the job by hand, sell the robot and buy a piece of machinery that will be more fruitful? What about the space that the machine is taking up, could another work area be put there and more jobs actually be completed without the equipment? You can’t say that you don’t want to get rid of parts because you may need it. If you are not utilizing it or it is outdated, then it is taking up space and not contributing to the development and profit of the company. It can be hard to admit that getting that robot was a bad idea, but if it does not and doesn’t assit grow the company, then it is time to move forward and discover something that does. It is titles adapting and pushing ahead.
