It is getting more and tougher to compete in the worldwide marketplace that we all exist in. Whether you are producing cars or widgets, there is somebody out there trying to make them less expensively and quicker than you. But the question is if they are producing a better item? For some buyers, it doesn’t matter, cheaper is good enough even if the product doesn’t last as long. It is bizarre and unfortunate, but cheaper has become the slogan and the word of choice for many consumers and companies. Yes, cheaper is better, but cheaper doesn’t always work out for the best. So the goal is to produce a good, high quality product and to make it of high value to your customers. The makers of the items do not decide what they makes’ worth; the buyer does. What is the consumer prepared to pay for your item and how much of a demand for your part is there? There are different ways to raise your revenue for your product.

You can always increase the price and pass it off to the buyer. But there is a better way, a longer term method that can raise profits and keep your company working lean and efficient. It all begins with eliminating unnecessary waste in all aspects of your company. Waste comes innumerous forms and it costs every business more cash than they would care to disclose. Waste is when workers are just standing around, but that does not mean that there aren’t orders to be built. It might just mean that they are waiting for parts to be completed in the electrical department or it could mean that they are waiting for parts from a supplier. These are method concerns that can directly affect the end product and how many you can produce. When workers are sitting around, inactive and waiting for the job to come to their area, they are not producing. They are unused and are in essence just wasting cash and time. It is the same when you have machines standing quiet. What is the point of having a costly automated machine if it is not being used for hours a day? Would it be more efficient to do the job by hand, sell the robot and purchase a piece of equipment that will be more industrious? What about the space that the machine is filling, could another work spot be put there and more jobs actually be completed without the machine? You can’t say that you don’t want to get rid of something because you may want it. If you are not using it or it is obsolete, then it is taking up space and not contributing to the development and profit of theorganization. It can be difficult to admit that getting that machine was a bad idea, but if it does not and doesn’t assit build the business, then it is time to push on and find something that does. It is named adapting and pushing forward.
