It is getting more and harder to compete in the worldwide marketplace that we all exist in. Whether you are making baseball bats or widgets, there is somebody out there trying to build them cheaper and quicker than you. But the question is if they are building a better product? For some people, it doesn’t matter, cheaper is better even if the product doesn’t last as long. It is weird and unfortunate, but cheaper has become the slogan and the word of choice for many people and companies. Yes, cheaper is better, but cheaper doesn’t always work out for the best. So the object is to build a superior, high quality part and to make it of high value to your potential customers. The builders of the product do not establish what they makes’ value; the customer does. What is the customer prepared to pay for your item and how much of a demand for your part is there? There are different ways to increase your earnings for your goods.

You can always elevate the price and pass it off to the customer. But there is a better way, a more long term method that can boost profits and keep your organization operating lean and efficiently. It all begins with removing unnecessary waste in all areas of your organization. Waste comes inlots of forms and it costs every organization more revenue than they would care to confess. Waste is when workers are just hanging around, but that does not mean that there aren’t orders to be made. It mightsimply mean that they are waiting for parts to be finished in the assembly department or it could mean that they are waiting for parts from a vendor. These are procedure problems that can directly have an effect on the end product and the speed at which you can produce. When employees are hanging around, inactive and waiting for the job to come to their work station, they are not useful. They are idle and are in effect simply wasting cash and time. It is the same when you have machines standing idle. What is the point of having a costly mechanized machine if it is not being run for hours a day? Would it be more cost effective to do the process by hand, sell the machine and purchase a piece of equipment that will be more productive? What about the space that the machine is taking up, could another work station be put there and more work actually be finished without the robot? You can’t say that you don’t want to get rid of tools because you may need it. If you are not using it or it is old, then it is taking up valuable space and not contributing to the growth and profit of thebusiness. It can be hard to admit that purchasing that equipment was a bad idea, but if it does not and doesn’t help grow the business, then it is time to move forward and discover something that does. It is titles adapting and going ahead.
