It is getting much more difficult to compete in the worldwide marketplace that we all exist in. Whether you are producing hair dryers or widgets, there is somebody out there trying to build them cheaper and faster than you. But the question is if they are producing a superior product? For some people, it doesn’t matter, cheaper is good enough even if the item doesn’t last as long. It is bizarre and unfortunate, but cheaper has become the slogan and the word of choice for many consumers and companies. Yes, cheaper is better, but cheaper doesn’t necessarily work out for the best. So the objective is to build a first-rate, high quality part and to make it of high value to your clients. The producers of the product do not determine what they makes’ value; the customer does. What is the customer ready to pay for your service and how much of a demand for your part is there? There are different ways to boost your earnings for your goods.

You can always elevate the price and pass it off to the buyer. But there is a better way, a longer term method that can increase revenue and keep your organization working lean and efficient. It all begins with eliminating unnecessary waste in all aspects of your business. Waste comes innumerous forms and it costs every company more cash than they would care to confess. Waste is when employees are just hanging around, but that does not mean that there aren’t orders to be made. It mightmerely mean that they are waiting for parts to be finished in the electrical department or it might mean that they are waiting for parts from a supplier. These are process issues that can directly influence the end product and how many you can make. When employees are loafing around, unused and waiting for the work to come to their work station, they are not useful. They are under used and are in essence merely wasting money and time. It is the same when you have machines sitting idle. What is the point of having a fancy automatic machine if it is not being used for hours a day? Would it be more cost effective to do the job by hand, sell the machine and purchase a piece of equipment that will be more industrious? What about the area that the equipment is filling, could another work station be put there and more jobs actually be done without the robot? You can’t say that you don’t want to do away with parts because you might need it. If you are not utilizing it or it is outdated, then it is taking up space and not contributing to the expansion and profit of theorganization. It can be uncomfortable to admit that purchasing that robot was a bad idea, but if it does not and doesn’t assit grow the company, then it is time to push forward and find something that does. It is called adapting and going ahead.
