It is getting more and tougher to compete in the worldwide marketplace that we all exist in. Whether you are producing cars or widgets, there is somebody out there trying to build them cheaper and faster than you. But the question is if they are building a better product? For some buyers, it doesn’t matter, cheaper is good enough even if the part doesn’t last as long. It is weird and unfortunate, but cheaper has become the motto and the word of choice for many buyers and businesses. Yes, less expensive is better, but less expensive doesn’t always work out for the best. So the objective is to produce a superior, high quality item and to make it of high value to your customers. The makers of the items do not determine what they makes’ worth; the customer does. What is the customer ready to pay for your part and how big of a demand for your item is there? There are different ways to raise your revenue for your product.

You can always elevate the price and pass it off to the buyer. But there is a better way, a longer term method that can increase earnings and keep your organization operating lean and efficiently. It all begins with removing unnecessary waste in all areas of your business. Waste comes inlots of forms and it costs every company more cash than they would care to confess. Waste is when workers are just hanging around, but that does not mean that there aren’t orders to be built. It mightsimply mean that they are waiting for parts to be finished in the electrical department or it could mean that they are waiting for product from a vendor. These are process problems that can directly influence the end product and the quantity that you can make. When workers are sitting around, inactive and waiting for the job to come to their area, they are not productive. They are under used and are in effect just wasting money and time. It is the same when you have machines being idle. What is the point of having a fancy automatic machine if it is not being used for hours a day? Would it be more efficient to do the process by hand, sell the machine and purchase a piece of equipment that will be more fruitful? What about the area that the machine is filling, could another work area be put there and more jobs actually be completed without the equipment? You can’t say that you don’t want to do away with something because you might need it. If you are not utilizing it or it is outdated, then it is taking up space and not contributing to the expansion and profit of thefirm. It can be tricky to admit that buying that equipment was a bad idea, but if it does not and doesn’t help build the company, then it is time to push on and realize something that does. It is titles adapting and going ahead.
