It is getting more and harder to compete in the worldwide marketplace that we all dwell in. Whether you are building hair dryers or widgets, there is someone out there trying to make them cheaper and faster than you. But the question is if they are producing a superior product? For some buyers, it doesn’t matter, cheaper is good enough even if the item doesn’t last as long. It is strange and regrettable, but cheaper has become the catchphrase and the word of choice for many buyers and companies. Yes, less expensive is better, but cheaper doesn’t always work out for the best. So the objective is to make a first-rate, high value part and to make it of high value to your buyers. The producers of the product do not establish what they makes’ worth; the customer does. What is the buyer ready to pay for your product and how much of a demand for your product is there? There are different ways to increase your earnings for your goods.

You can always elevate the price and pass it off to the buyer. But there is a better way, a longer term method that can boost profits and keep your company running lean and efficiently. It all begins with removing unnecessary waste in all aspects of your organization. Waste comes innumerous forms and it costs every organization more money than they would care to disclose. Waste is when workers are just hanging around, but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t orders to be filled. It might just mean that they are waiting for parts to be completed in the assembly department or it could mean that they are waiting for parts from a vendor. These are procedure problems that can directly affect the end product and how many you can produce. When workers are loafing around, idle and waiting for the work to come to their area, they are not productive. They are unused and are in essence merely wasting money and time. It is the same when you have machines sitting quiet. What is the point of having a costly automatic machine if it is not being run for hours a day? Would it be more cost effective to do the process by hand, sell the robot and buy a piece of equipment that will be more fruitful? What about the room that the machine is filling, could another work spot be put there and more labor actually be completed without the equipment? You can’t say that you don’t want to do away with something because you may need it. If you are not using it or it is outdated, then it is taking up room and not contributing to the expansion and profit of thebusiness. It can be uncomfortable to admit that getting that robot was a bad idea, but if it doesn’t work and doesn’t assit build the business, then it is time to push forward and discover something that does. It is named adapting and pushing forward.
