Cold Sprgs Hi, Kentucky

It is becoming more and harder to compete in the global marketplace that we all exist in. Whether you are building cars or widgets, there is somebody out there trying to produce them less expensively and quicker than you. But the question is if they are building a better part? For some buyers, it doesn’t matter, cheaper is better even if the part doesn’t last as long. It is strange and unfortunate, but cheaper has become the catchphrase and the word of choice for many people and businesses. Yes, cheaper is better, but less expensive doesn’t necessarily work out for the best. So the goal is to produce a superior, high quality item and to make it of high value to your buyers. The makers of the parts do not determine what they makes’ worth; the consumer does. What is the consumer prepared to pay for your product and how much of a demand for your product is there? There are different ways to raise your profit for your product.

You can always raise the price and pass it off to the customer. But there is a better way, a longer term approach that can raise profits and keep your business working lean and efficiently. It all begins with removing unnecessary waste in all aspects of your business. Waste comes innumerous forms and it costs every company more money than they would care to disclose. Waste is when employees are just standing around, but that does not mean that there aren’t orders to be made. It mightmerely mean that they are waiting for parts to be completed in the assembly department or it could mean that they are waiting for parts from a supplier. These are method issues that can directly affect the end product and the quantity that you can make. When employees are sitting around, inactive and waiting for the work to come to their station, they are not productive. They are unused and are in essence just wasting cash and time. It is the same when you have machines sitting idle. What is the point of having a costly automated machine if it is not in use for hours a day? Would it be more cost effective to do the process by hand, sell the machine and buy a piece of equipment that will be more fruitful? What about the area that the equipment is filling, could another work spot be put there and more jobs actually be done without the robot? You can’t say that you don’t want to get rid of equipment because you may need it. If you are not making use of it or it is old, then it is taking up room and not contributing to the development and profit of thebusiness. It can be tricky to admit that purchasing that robot was a bad idea, but if it doesn’t work and doesn’t assit grow the business, then it is time to push forward and realize something that does. It is named adapting and pushing forward.
