Expectations must be set at the beginning of the mentoring relationship to avoid a sense of failure on the part of either person involved. The mentor should expect excellence from the protégé. Each level of six sigma management needs to report on their progress on a regular basis, possibly monthly and at closer intervals as the project draws to conclusion. Canadians Look To US Hospitals For Six Sigma Guidance

A recent news story revealed that several Canadian health officials had just finished touring hospitals in Washington State. Visiting from Saskatchewan, these officials were looking to study instances where Six Sigma had been applied to hospital management. This tour was planned as part of the research process for development of the new Saskatoon Children's Hospital, set to open in 2014. The American Society for Quality has reported that only four percent of American hospitals have fully adopted lean methodology.
